This book looks at chemmotological solutions to important questions surrounding sustainability and environmental safety of transport - both key priorities within the global strategy of sustainable development. Bringing together expanded versions of selected papers presented at the 8th International Scientific-Technical Conference: Problems of Chemmotology - Theory and Practice of Rational Use of Conventional and Alternative Fuels and Lubricants, contributors present solutions to problematic questions, including choosing feedstock and technologies of its processing for manufacturing alternative fuels, development and implementation of measures for improving environmental safety of transport, minimizing exhaust gases emission from transport, introducing new solution or improvements in systems of fuels supply and infrastructure, and changes in legislative and regulatory base for fuels and lubricants use. This collection will be an invaluable reference for researchers, professionals, and students involved in alternative aviation fuels, transport engineering, sustainable transport development, and fuels and lubricants.

lt;p>Sergii Boichenko, Dr.Sc., is the Head of the Department of Automation of Electrical and Mechatronic Complexes at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute," Kiev. Before that, he was the Head of the Department of Chemmotology from 2007 until 2011 and Director and then Scientific Chief of the Ukrainian Research and Educational Center of Chemmotology and Certification of Fuels, Lubricants and Technical Liquids from 2005 until 2021 at the National Aviation University (NAU), Kiev. He was also Head of the Ecology Department at NAU from 2011 until 2018, when he became Dean of the NAU Faculty of Environmental Safety, Engineering, and Technologies. Professor Boichenko's primary field of scientific interest is the effective and efficient use of conventional and alternative fuels, lubricants, and technical liquids. Over the years, he has been scientific chief of more than ten national scientific-research projects granted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Since 2006, he has been a founder and head of the Program Committee of the International Scientific-Technical Conference "Problems of Chemmotology - Theory and Practice of Rational Use of Traditional and Alternative Fuels and Lubricants," and an acting member of the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection. He founded the Scientific-Technical Union of Chemmotologists and the Research (Experimental) Interactive Laboratory for Diagnosing Operational Materials in Energy and Transport (supervisor) in 2009 and 2021, respectively.

Anna Yakovlieva, Ph.D., started her research and academic career in 2010 as an Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor at the National Aviation University (NAU), Kiev, where she has been the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Safety, Engineering, and Technologies since 2019. She received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering of Fuels & Lubricants in 2016 at NAU and a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the Rzeszow University of Technology in 2018. Dr. Yakovlieva was also a researcher with the Ukrainian Science Research and Educational Center of Chemmotology and Certification of Fuel, Lubricants, and Technical Liquids of NAU. Since 2021, she has been a senior researcher and head of the R&D projects at NAU. Her fields of scientific interest are renewable jet fuels, sustainable transport, alternative energy sources, and environmental protection. She is an author and co-author of more than 120 publications, including monographs, textbooks, and patents. In 2016 she was a winner of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Award for Young Scientists for research activity in developing and implementing alternative jet fuels. She is a member and vice-head of the Scientific-Technical Union of Chemmotologists.

Oleksandr Zaporozhets, Ph.D., has been a Professor at the National Aviation University (NAU) since 1999, where he was also Director of the Institute of Environmental Safety from 2008 to 2018 and Head of the Department of Safety of Life Activity from 2001 through 2013. His research areas include aircraft noise and air pollution impact assessment and abatement at airports, environmental protection from civil aviation impact, environmental risk analysis and control, flight safety, aviation security, and wind farm safety. Dr. Zaporozhets graduated from the Kiev Institute of Engineers of Civil Aviation in 1984. He has been a nominated member from Ukraine of the Committee on Environmental Protection from the Impact of Aviation (CAEP) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) since 2009 and Scientific Supervisor of the Center for Environmental Problems of Airports (CESA) of the NAU since 2006. He is a Ukrainian Grouping of Acousticians member and contact person with the European Acoustic Association and the Institute of Aviation, Warsaw.
