Professor Arun K. Majumdar is a research scientist and a former university professor. In the past he has worked in optical communications and research industries for over 28 years, was the Director of Research at LCResearch, Inc. in California. He has also held positions at the US Department of the Navy as Senior Scientist, Innosense LLC as Chief Engineer, Harvard and MIT, among others. He served as a full Professor at the University of Colorado for five years, and served as a Visiting Professor at both NIST and at the Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic. Professor Majumdar has published over 395 articles in international scientific peer-reviewed journals, has written over 25 technical reports. He has published several books including Principles and Applications of Free Space Optical Communications (IET, 2019), Optical Wireless Communications for Broadband Global Internet Connectivity, Fundamentals and Potential Applications (Elsevier, 2018), Advanced Free Space Optics (FSO) (Springer, 2015), and Free-Space Laser Communications Principles and Advances (Springer, 2008). He is a member of IEEE, OSA, and SPIE.
