This book first presents a systematic theoretical study of wireless localization techniques. Then, guided by the theoretical results, the authors provide design approaches for improving the performance of localization systems and making the deployment of the systems more convenient. The book aims to address the following issues: how reliable the wireless localization system can be; how the system can scale up with the number of users to be served; how to make key design decisions in implementing the system; and how to mitigate human efforts in deploying the wireless localization system. The book is relevant for researchers, academics, and students interested in wireless localization technology.

Xiaohua Tian (Senior Member, IEEE) received his B.E. and M.E. degrees in communication engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xian, China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in the Department Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago, in Dec. 2010. Since Mar. 2011, he has been with the Electronics Engineering Department in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and now is Professor, Associate Dean of the Department. He received the Excellent Young Scientists Fund from the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC) in 2019, and National Key Research and Development Program Fund of China in 2020. He won ACM China Rising Star Award 2017, ACM MobiCom 2018 Best Mobile APP Award, IEEE ICNC 2015 and IEEE VTC-Fall 2017 best paper award. He serves as the scanning the literature column editor of IEEE Network Magazine (2016-) and the associate editor of IEEE Internet of Things Journal (2019-). He also serves as the Vice Program co-chair of ACM Turing Celebration Conference (TURC) 2019, TPC member for IEEE INFOCOM 2014-2018, 2020, symposium co-chair of IEEE/CIC ICCC 2015, 2019, TPC member for IEEE GLOBECOM 2011-2020, IEEE ICC 2011-2020.

Xinyu Tong received the B.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 2015 and 2020, respectively. He holds a post-doctoral position at the College of Intelligence and Computing, Tianjin University. His research interests include wireless sensor network and wireless localization.

Xinbing Wang (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree (Hons.) from the Department of Automation, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China, in 1998, the M.S. degree from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2001, and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the Department of Mathematics, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, in 2006. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electronic Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China. He has been an Associate Editor for IEEE/ ACM Transactions on Networking and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, and the member of the Technical Program Committees of several conferences including ACM MobiCom 2012, 2018-2021, ACM Sigmetrics 2021, ACM MobiHoc 2012-2019, and IEEE INFOCOM 2009-2020.
