This open access book compiles the research results of the Collaborative Research Center SFB 837, which has been running since 2010 and will end in 2022, with the topic "Interaction Modeling in Mechanized Tunneling". The Collaborative Research Center is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and is currently the world's largest research facility in the field of tunneling. The aim of the publication is to make our scientific findings accessible to the international professional community. The individual chapters deal with all subsystems relevant in mechanized tunneling and their interaction. The latest results of digital planning and real-time tunneling support have been included.

Prof. Dr.-techn. Günther MeschkeBasic and applied research in the field of numerical structural mechanics. Development of multi-field and multi-scale models for materials, numerical algorithms for multi-field simulations, numerical models for short- and long-term damage and deterioration of materials, durability analyses of structures, numerical simulations in tunneling and cavity construction, development of material models for concrete and reinforced concrete, shotcrete, wood-based materials, fiber-reinforced materials as well as geological materials under consideration of damage and inelastic deformation, development of finite element methods for localized failure in brittle and quasi-brittle materials. inelastic deformations, development of finite element methods for localized failure in brittle and quasi-brittle materials. Biomechanical multiscale models for soft biological tissues and multiscale simulations of biological structures, models for low cycle fatigue in metallic materials and numerical fatigue analyses of steel structures, development of contact algorithms, numerical algorithms for nonlinear static and dynamic structural analyses.
