Attitude Dynamics and Control of Space Debris During Ion Beam Transportation provides an overview of the cutting-edge research around the topic of contactless ion beam transportation for the removal of space debris. This practical guide covers topics such as space debris attitude motion, the motion of rigid materials in an inhomogeneous high-speed rarefied medium, gravity gradient torque, and more. The book examines and compares the various ways to control the spatial motion of space debris, such as engine thrust or altering the direction of the ion beam axis, and offers simple mathematical models for analyzing system behaviors.

Professor Aslanov has been Department Head/Professor at Samara State Aerospace University since 1989. Since 2019, he has also served as the head of the ‘Space Flight Mechanics Laboratory’ at the Moscow Aviation Institute. His scientific interests include classical mechanics, nonlinear oscillations and chaotic dynamics, mechanics of space flight, dynamics of gyrostats, and dynamics of tethered satellite systems and spacecraft stability. He has published multiple books, including Dynamics of Tethered Satellite Systems and Rigid Body Dynamics for Space Dynamics, both with Elsevier. Professor Ledkov joined Samara State Aerospace University in 2021 and also holds a joint appointment as a Senior Researcher at the Mechanics Research Laboratory at the same institute. His research interests include classical mechanics, mechanics of space flight, dynamics of tethered satellite systems, contactless transportations in space, and re-entry vehicles dynamics. He is the co-author of Dynamics of the Tethered Satellite System, published in 2012 by Elsevier.
