This book presents innovative strategies to implement ultra-low voltage (ULV) and low power active circuits used in low energy RF receivers. The authors demonstrate that the use of single-stage amplifiers with the input negative transconductance compensation is a key strategy to allow the operation at low voltage levels with reduced power dissipation. Also, some design methodologies, based on the CMOS transistor operation point, are analyzed and a powerful design methodology is described for this kind of circuit. Readers will be enabled to implement the techniques described to design communication circuits with low power dissipation, useful in a variety of applications, including IoT/IoE devices.

Lucas Compassi-Severo received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Pampa, Brazil, in 2011 and 2012, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic School, University of São Paulo, in 2019. From 2011 to 2012, he was a substitute Professor at the Federal University of Pampa. Since 2013, he has been a Professor with the Telecommunication Engineering Department, Federal University of Pampa, Brazil. He has authored or coauthored over 40 papers in edited books, international journals, and conference proceedings. His research interests are in the design of analog and RF integrated circuits, especially for ultra-low voltage low energy operation, energy harvesting and analog CAD tools.

Wilhelmus Van Noije received the bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), in 1975 and 1978, respectively, the Ph.D. degree in exact sciences from the Department of Electrotechnique, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, in 1985, and the post-doctoral degree from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA, 1992. Since 1999, he has been a Full Professor with the University of São Paulo. After retirement in 2017, he holds the position of Senior Professor at USP. He was the General Coordinator of the Integrated Systems Laboratory from 2010 to 2017. He was the Vice-President of the Association of the Technological Integrable Systems laboratory (LSITec) from 1999 to 2017. He was also the Vice-President (2003-2005) and the President (2005-2007) of the Brazilian Society of Microelectronics. Since 2007, he has been the chapter chair of the IEEE Solid State Circuits Society, IEEE South Brazil Session. He has experience in electrical engineering, with the emphasis on electronic circuits, working mainly on the following topics: microelectronics - integrated circuits CMOS design, RF circuits, digital and analog, CAD for Microelectronics, design of integrated circuits for health (cancers detection), and other applications. It's R&D activities have resulted in more than 200 publications in national and international journals and conferences. He supervised more than 40 master's and PhD theses.
