A collection of papers taken from a forum discussing progress in the field of fluid mechanics under compensated gravity effects. The main topics covered include interface phenomena, convective processes; Marangoni effects, solidification, combustion, and physico-chemical processes.
Substantial progress has been made in the field of fluid mechanics under compensated gravity effects (microgravity). Starting out with the aim of providing assistance in describing flow problems in other microgravity sciences, microgravity fluid mechanics has now established itself as a research area in its own right. The IUTAM Symposium on Microgravity Fluid Mechanics has provided the long-awaited forum for scientists from 15 countries to present and discuss the "state-of-the-art" in this discipline. The main topics covered include: interface phenomena, convective processes; Marangoni effects, solidification, combustion, physicochemical processes, multiphase phenomena, residual acceleration effects, fluid handling and non-Newtonian flows.
