This book provides an overview of the fundamental concept of air pollution, emission sources of air pollutants and their transportation.

First, the book presents a brief background on air pollution and its emission sources, then it continues with their impact on agriculture, health, and climate change. Furthermore, it covers the basic concepts of air pollution, transportation of air pollutants, global climate change and the use of science in air pollution policy formulation in detail. It also emphasizes the effects of air pollutants in altering the onset pattern of the Indian Summer Monsoon. In addition, it describes the impacts of air pollution on the cryosphere and human health.

In this book the editors provide an interdisciplinary unique collection of new studies and findings on the groove of air pollution, to improve the basic understanding of graduate students as well as researchers in the field of air pollution and its impacts on various aspects of the atmosphere and surroundings. This collection covers the basic concepts of air pollution, transportation of air pollutants, and global climate change and the use of science in air pollution policy formulation. 



Dr. Shani Tiwari is a scientist and working at the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India. He received his doctorate degree from Banaras Hindu University. After his doctorate, he served at Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University, Japan as a Designated Assistant Professor. He also worked at Physical Research Laboratory Ahmedabad India and Environmental Research Institute, Shandong University, Qingdao, China, as Postdoctoral Fellow. His research focuses on sedimentary black carbon, marine aerosol, environmental pollution and climate change. He has published 34 peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters in international/national journals with h/i10 - index 13/15 and also has delivered several oral, posters presentations along with an invited talk in various national/ international conferences/meetings. He also serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed research journals.

Dr. Pallavi Saxena is an Assistant Professor, Environmental Science, Hindu College, University of Delhi, Delhi, India. She has been awarded DST Fast Track Young Scientist position at School of Environmental Sciences Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. She has completed her Post Doc from Space and Atmospheric Sciences Division, Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad, India. She has completed her studies till Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Science from the University of Delhi. Dr. Pallavi has defended her Ph.D work on 'Effect of Photochemical Pollutants on Plant Species. Her area of interest is air pollution and plant physiology and working in this area since 18 years. She is elected as Chair of South Asia and Middle East Region of Early Career Scientist Network of iLEAPS community, UK. She has also been awarded Jawaharlal Nehru Doctoral Scholarship, CSIR SRF, Young Scientist Award-ISPP, DBT BioCaRe Award during her research career. She has published 25 research papers in high impact factor journals and published 4 books in the field of Air Pollution and Plant Health in Springer and CABI publishers. She is also a co-author and collaborator from India of TOAR International Meeting from 2015 onwards. She is also served as a reviewer in various international reputed journals like Atmospheric Environment, Environmental Pollution, Atmospheric Pollution Research, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, etc. She is also selected as Review Editor of Climate Change and Cities in Frontiers of Sustainable Cities Journal.
