Two typical hybrid laser surface modification processes, i.e. electro/magnetic field aided laser process and supersonic laser deposition technology, are introduced in the book, to solve the common problems in quality control and low efficiency of the laser-only surface modification technology, high contamination and high consumption of the traditional surface modification technology. This book focuses on the principle, characteristics, special equipment, process and industrial applications of the hybrid laser surface modification processes based on the recent research results of the author's group, and provides theoretical guidance and engineering reference for the researchers and engineers engaging in the field of surface engineering and manufacturing.

Prof. Jianhua Yao is Dean of the College of Mechanical Engineering and Dean of the Institute of Laser Advanced Manufacturing, Zhejiang University of Technology, P.R. China. He has been engaging in the research of laser material processing and manufacturing technology for more than 30 years, won many honorary titles for his outstanding contribution in the field of scientific research and teaching, presided more than 120 national and enterprise research projects, published more than 400 research papers, holds 40+ invention patents and won many research awards such as the second prize for 'National Science and Technology Progress Awards'.

Dr. Bo Li received his Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, P.R. China. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Laser Advanced Manufacturing, Zhejiang University of Technology. His research field focuses on laser hybrid manufacturing technologies (especially supersonic laser deposition) for metal surface modification and additive manufacturing. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers and has been granted a number of patents.

Dr. Liang Wang received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Laser Advanced Manufacturing, Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou, P.R. China. He is working on the field of laser additive manufacturing with external energy field, numerical simulation of heat and mass transfer process in the laser-induced molten pool and industry-orientated research.
