Since 1968, Nantucket Looms has enjoyed sharing the beauty and simplicity of Nantucket cottage-style living with the world through their selection of handwoven textiles, fine home furnishings, and full-scale interior design services. Today, they continue to honor the island's roots with a harmonious blend of the traditional and contemporary. They produce quality handwoven textiles made from the finest all natural fibers in simple, elegant weave structures. If you listen closely as you enter their building at 51 Main Street, you can hear the sound of

The New Nantucket Style explains the influence of hand-woven fabric company, Nantucket Looms, in the evolution of Nantucket's style and also considers how important historical developments, such as industrialization, have affected style and design on Nantucket.

The book gives reader a history of the looms alongside a history of Nantucket interior design. Readers will get a peek into the homes on the beautiful island of Nantucket and read how Nantucket style has evolved over the years. The gorgeous photographs feature key elements of featured houses: historical elements, modern palette choices, artwork and other aesthetic choices.

Readers in Nantucket and across the country can enjoy this book in several different ways. First, because the book is an account of the changing style in Nantucket, it can be read as a history of interior design (in specific, New England/Island interior design). Readers can also take from this book tips and tricks on how to style their home, especially if they are planning to purchase or design a beach cottage or house. The New Nantucket Style could also function as a persuasive marketing tool for the island to attract even more guests; the book communicates the charm and allure of Nantucket wonderfully.

Leslie Linsley has a master's degree in Journalism and has published over 70 books about crafts and decorating. Many of those books are about Nantucket, where she has lived most of her life, including Nantucket Style, Nantucket Island Living, Nantucket Cottages & Gardens, and Christmas on Nantucket which is to be released by Globe Pequot Press this fall. Linsley writes a newspaper column called "At Home with Leslie Linsley" which appears in both the Nantucket Inquirer & Mirror and The Key West Citizen on a weekly basis. Articles by Linsley have appeared in magazines such as Good Housekeeping, artha Stewart Living, and Family Circle, where she worked as the contributing craft editor for 15 years. The author has also made several TV appearances on shows including Oprah, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and on HGTV. On April 1, 1968 Nantucket Looms opened its doors on Main Street in Nantucket as a production hand weaving studio and gift store with the goal of providing a year-round industry for the island. Over fifty years later they are proud to carry on that same tradition. Visit them at www.nantucketlooms.com.
