This book highlights the applications of data mining technologies in structural dynamic analysis, including structural design, optimization, parameter identification, model updating, damage identification, in civil, mechanical, and aerospace engineering. These engineering applications require precise structural design, fabrication, inspection, and further monitoring to obtain a full life-cycle analysis, and by focusing on data processing, data mining technologies offer another aspect in structural dynamic analysis. Discussing techniques in time/frequency domain, such as Hilbert transforms, wavelet theory, and machine learning for structural dynamic analysis to help in structural monitoring and diagnosis, the book is an essential reference resource for beginners, graduates and industrial professionals in various fields.

Dr. Yun Lai Zhou is a Research Fellow at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid, Spain. His research interests include structural health monitoring and fracture mechanics, and he has authored and co-authored numerous publications on the subject of structural health monitoring and structural modal analysis in international journals and conference proceedings.

Prof. Magd Abdel Wahab is a Professor of Applied Mechanics at Soete Laboratory at Ghent University, Belgium. He received his B.Sc in Civil Engineering in 1988, and his M.Sc. in Structural Mechanics in 1991, both from Cairo University. Prof. Wahab completed his Ph.D. in Fracture Mechanics in 1995 at KU Leuven, Belgium, and was awarded a Doctor of Science degree by the University of Surrey in 2008. His research interests include fracture mechanics, damage mechanics, fatigue of materials, durability, and dynamics and vibration of structures, and he has published more than 210 scientific papers and technical reports on solid mechanics and dynamics of structures.

Prof. Nuno M.M. Maia obtained his first degree and master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon, in 1978 and 1985 respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Vibrations (1989) from Imperial College London, UK, and his postdoctoral qualification in Mechanical Engineering in 2001 from the Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon. Prof. Maia has authored and co-authored two textbooks and about 200 scientific publications on the subject of modal analysis and structural dynamics in international journals and conference proceedings. He is an Associate Editor of the Shock and Vibration Journal, a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Vibration and Control, member of the Editorial Board of the Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, member of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM), and a member of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV) and of the Portuguese Society of Acoustics (SPA), where he is responsible for the area of vibrations. His current research interests are modal analysis and modal testing, coupling and structural modification, damage detection in structures, modeling of damping, transmissibility, and force identification.

Prof. Linya Liu is a Professor of rail system noise and vibration control in East China Jiaotong University, China. He received his BSc, 1996, in Southwest Jiaotong University, China; and he completed his PhD in 2006 in Tongji University, China, both in Highway & Railway Engineering. He dedicates his research in the field of static and dynamic structural analysis, vibration mitigation and noise control especially for the rail system components including floating track slab. He has authored and co-authored several books and more than 60 scientific publications in international journals and conference proceedings.

Prof. Elói J. F. Figueiredo received his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2010, MSc in Structures of Civil Engineering in 2007, and Licentiate in Civil Engineering in 2004. He started teaching in 2010 at the Universidade Catolica Portuguesa, Portugal, and is currently an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering of Universidade Lusofona in Lisbon, Portugal. He is also a technical consultant in the field of monitoring and maintenance of bridges. Prof. Figueiredo has dedicated his academic career teaching courses in the field of static and dynamic structural analysis, soil mechanics, foundation engineering design, seismic engineering, as well as design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. In terms of scientific research, he has mainly worked on Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and maintenance of bridges, especially on vibration-based structural identification and evaluation. He has published over 70 scientific publications in international journals and conference proceedings.
