Most of the elements in the periodic table are metallic or semi-metallic elements. This book graphically represents these elements, allowing their nature to be interpreted in more detail. Each element is plotted in a diagram with thermal conductivity on the abscissa and the Young’s modulus on the ordinate.

Yoshiharu Mae graduated from the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Tokyo, before working as a research engineer in the Institute of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation until his retirement in 2001. He is currently Director of the consulting firm Maetech, and his publications include the articles “What the Darken-Gurry Plot Means about the Solubility of Elements in Metals” and “Characteristics of Matrix Metals in Which Fast Diffusion of Foreign Elements Occurs”. He is also the author of the book Stories of Copper and Aluminum.
