This book is specifically designed to provide information about various nanocarriers currently developed under the emerging field of nanotheranostics for a sustained, controlled, and targeted co-delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic agents. Diverse theranostic applications of nanotechnology and their limitations are also addressed. It integrates nanobiotechnology with theranostic applications. The combined term nanotheranostics has diverse application particularly in chemotherapy and other infectious diseases.Among other topics addressed are antimicrobial resistance, targeting intra-cellular pathogens, viruses and bacteria, chemotherapy, cancer therapeutics, and inflammatory disorders.  This interdisciplinary volume is essential for a diverse group of readers including nanotechnologists, microbiologists, biotechnologists, bioengineering and bioprocess industry.

Mahendra Rai is Senior Professor and UGC-BSR Faculty Fellow at the Department of Biotechnology, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University at Amravati, Maharashtra, India. Among his academic appointments are: Scientist at the Department of Bioenergetics, University of Geneva, Switzerland, the Department of Plant Protection of Debrecen University, Debrecen, Hungary, Department of Chemical Biology, University of Campinas, Brazil under Indo-Brazil Research Programme (DST-CNPq collaboration), visiting Professor in Nicolaus Copernicus University, Torun, Poland, State University of Campinas, Brazil, and visiting professor in Ostrava, Czech Republic. His area of expertise includes microbial biotechnology and nanobiotechnology. His present research interests are nanobiotechnology in medicine, agriculture and bioethanol production. He has published more than 400 research papers in national and international journals. In addition, he has edited/authored 50 books and 6 patents. Dr Bushra Jamil is currently working as Assistant Professor at National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Her scientific interests include Microbiology, antibiotic production, nanomedicines and drug designing. She is particularly interested in nano delivery of antibiotics as a tool to combat antimicrobial resistance, which was her PhD research topic too. She has published numerous research and review articles in impact factor journals. She is also the author of two book chapters. She has presented her work in several national and international conferences.
