Micro Electro Discharge Machining (EDM), is a machining method used to produce MEMS components, drill holes for fuel injectors, fabrication of biomedical devices, and dies, or for casting microstructures. The book can be used as a guide to select electrode materials, dielectric fluids, and machining conditions according to output requirements.
Micro Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) is a prominent technology for the fabrication of micro components in many fields. Nowadays, it is used like a conventional machine tool due to favorable characteristics. This book provides the fundamental knowledge of the principles of the process and its variants, the different process parameters, the role of machine components and systems, the challenges, and how to eliminate processing errors. It also includes real life applications of micro EDM in different areas with the most relevant examples.

Ajay M. Sidpara completed his B.E. from Government Engineering Collage, Bhuj (Gujarat University) in 2001, M.E. from M. S. University of Baroda in 2004, and Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2013. He is working as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He has more than 15 years of teaching and research experience. His research interests are surface finishing and micro machining. He has received several awards (Gandhian Young Technology Innovation Award 2013, Young Engineer Award by IE(India) 2015 , CSR Innovation Award 2016). He received the research funding from BRNS - Bombay, SERB - New Delhi and GE Power India Limited. He has published more than 30 research papers in the international journals, 13 book chapters, more than 30 conference papers and filed 3 Indian patents. He is a reviewer in more than 20 international journals. Ganesh Malayath completed his B.Tech. in mechanical engineering from Government Engineering Collage Thrissur and M. Tech. in manufacturing technology from National Institute of Technology Calicut. He is currently pursuing his research on micro EDM in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He has published 3 research papers in the international journals, 1 book chapter, 4 conference papers and filed 1 Indian patent.
