This book presents the basic principles of optical sensor technology in line with the tremendous development in the concept of optical fibers. It starts from the basic structure of optical fiber and progresses to examine the most important applications in optical sensors.
This book presents the basic principles of optical sensor technology in line with the tremendous development in the concept of optical fibers. In the first four chapters, the book discusses the basic principles of optical sensor technology in a simplified manner, making it suitable for all levels of study and research. The seven remaining chapters are concerned with the practical applications of optical sensor technology in all fields such as oil and gas, civil engineering, medical and military fields and harsh environments.

Hisham K. Hisham is a faculty member of the Electrical Engineering Department, Basra University, Iraq. In 2012 he received a PhD degree in communication systems and Networks from University Putra Malaysia. His research concentrates on the study of lasing mechanisms in semiconductor materials, nonlinear effects in fiber lasers and optical sensors.
