The book provides practice-oriented information on analysis, design and installation of photovoltaic power systems. It starts with a brief overview of large-scale photovoltaic technology and the power electronics devices used in current state-of-the-art systems. The main part of the book is devoted to the setup of and electrical installation in photovoltaic power plants according to international standards and regulations with a focus on achieving safe operation by proper implementation of protection measures, e.g., against overvoltages and overcurrents. The last part deals with simulation and test procedures and presents design case studies.

Ismail Kasikci is Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Biberach, Germany. His research areas are electrical energy supply, design of electrical installations of buildings, solar electricity, wind power generation, building integrated renewables, design and protection of distribution power system, smart grids, solar and wind power, connectivity requirements, focused on the IEC/EN and VDE regulations. Mohamed Darwish is Senior Lecturer at Brunel University, in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering of Brunel University, United Kingdom, where he gives lectures on power electronics, mechatronics, power systems and electric machines. His research interests are sustainable electrical power generation, power active filtering techniques, power quality issues and power electronics simulation and design. Engin Cetin is Associate Professor at the Engineering Faculty of the Pamukkale University, Turkey. His research is focused on low voltage power systems, photovoltaic power plants, fuel cells, small scale wind turbines and DC power distribution.
