This book covers the state-of-the-art research in nanoporous metals for potential applications in advanced energy fields, including proton exchange membrane fuel cells, Li batteries (Li ion, Li-S, and Li-O2), and supercapacitors. The related structural design and performance of nanoporous metals as well as possible mechanisms and challenges are fully addressed. The formation mechanisms of nanoporous metals during dealloying, the microstructures of nanoporous metals and characterization methods, as well as miscrostructural regulation of nanoporous metals through alloy design of precursors and surface diffusion control are also covered in detail. This is an ideal book for researchers, engineers, graduate students, and government/industry officers who are in charge of R&D investments and strategy related to energy technologies.

Dr. Yi Ding is currently Distinguished Professor at the Institute for New Energy & Low-Carbon Technologies, Tianjin University of Technology. He has published 98 journal articles on research that covers broad areas of nanoscale science and technology, particularly on creating functional nanoporous metal materials for use in advanced energy and environmental technologies. Prof. Dr. Zhonghua Zhang is a full professor at Shandong University. His research interests focus on dealloying mechanisms, dealloying-driven nanoporous metals, metal/metal oxide nanocomposites, transition metal chalcogenides, and their applications in energy and environment-related fields.

Introduction to Nanoporous Metals.- Formation and Microstructural Regulation of Nanoporous Metals.- Nanoporous Metals for Fuel Cell Applications.- Nanoporous Metals for Supercapacitor Applications.- Nanoporous Metals for Li Battery Applications.- Conclusions and Prospects.

"The book overall demonstrates the status and importance of NPMs in energy technologies. The figures and tables are appropriately chosen and displayed to provide insight into their respective research and technology. ... This book is valuable to readers who are looking for concise and updated information on all of the advanced energy technologies where NPMs find an application. It is useful to scientists and technologists working in these areas." (Pramod H. Borse, MRS Bulletin, Vol. 42, May, 2017)
