The proceedings of Commercial Vehicle Technology 2018 are a collection of publications for the 5th CVT Symposium at the University of Kaiserslautern. As in the previous years 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 numerous submissions focusing on current developments in the field of commercial vehicles have been composed into an interesting and informative collection. The contributions are of interest for mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and computer scientists working in industry and academia and show the current state-of-the-art in this field. The contents of the publications span the topics assisted and automated driving and working, energy and resource efficiency, innovative development and manufacturing, safety, reliability and durability as well as system simulation. The conference is held on March 13 to 15, 2018 at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern and is expecting the attendance of many renowned scientists and representatives of industry.
