This set of conference proceedings, comprising three CD-ROMs and a paperback volume, provides an opportunity for both researchers and practitioners from around the world to share knowledge and techniques for understanding and mitigating the effects of earthquakes. It aims to bring together and enhance dialogue among worldwide professionals from the broad range of disciplines committed to reducing the impact of earthquakes on the built and natural environment. The three CD-ROMs hold over 11,000 manuscript pages, while the accompanying text contains 1400 pages of abstracts. The CD-ROMs provide search facilities by title, author, author affiliation, keyboard and paper number, allowing quick access to articles of interest.
