This set of cassettes and the accompanying text, "Electrocardiographic Interpretation", present a step-by-step programme that offers a balanced understanding and interpretation of the clinical electrocardiogram. The basic steps of the interpretation process are covered, giving explanations for each instruction. Using reproductions of actual ECGs, this self-study guide uses the vector analysis approach. A fundamental review of electrocardiography includes formation of electrocardiographic leads, depolarization, repolarization and the conduction system of the heart, the cardiac vectors in the frontal and horizontal planes, and determination of the heart rate. Each chapter is augmented by clearly defined objectives and pre-test and post-test options, so that students may assess their progress and interpretation skills. Discussions of right ventrical hypertrophy (including right and left atrial enlargement), left ventricular hypertrophy, repolarization (ST-T) alterations, myocardial infarction, ventricular conduction disturbances, arrhythmias and digitalis comprise the remaining chapters.
