This book presents the technology of millimetre waves and Terahertz (THz) antennas. It highlights the importance of moderate and high-gain aperture antennas as key devices for establishing point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radio links for far-field and near-field applications, such as high data-rate communications, intelligent transport, security imaging, exploration and surveillance systems. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the key antenna technologies developed for the mm wave and THz domains, including established ones - such as integrated lens antennas, advanced 2D and 3D horn antennas, transmit and reflect arrays, and Fabry-Perot antennas - as well as emerging metasurface antennas for near-field and far-field applications. It describes the pros and cons of each antenna technology in comparison with other available solutions, a discussion supplemented by practical examples illustrating the step-by-step implementation procedures for each antenna type. The measurement techniques available at these frequency ranges are also presented to close the loop of the antenna development cycle. In closing, the book outlines future trends in various antenna technologies, paving the way for further developments.

Presenting content originating from the five-year ESF research networking program 'Newfocus' and co-authored by the most active and highly cited research groups in the domain of mm- and sub-mm-wave antenna technologies, the book offers a valuable guide for researchers and engineers in both industry and academia.

Artem V. Boriskin received the M.S. degree (cum laude) in radiophysics and electronics from the Kharkov National University, Kharkov, Ukraine, in 1999, and the Ph.D. degree in radiophysics from the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IRE NASU), Kharkov, Ukraine, in 2004. From 2004 to 2009, he was a Research Scientist and later a Senior Research Scientist with the Department of Computational Electromagnetics, IRE NASU. During those years, he also had short appointments with Bilkent University, Bilkent, Turkey, IT-Warsaw, Warsaw, Poland, the George Green Institute for Electromagnetics Research at the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, U.K., and Institut d'Electronique et de Télécommunications de Rennes (IETR), Rennes, France. From 2010 to 2015, he was with the Department of Antennas and Microwave Devices, IETR, France. In November 2015, he joined the Research & Innovation laboratory at Technicolor R&D France. His current research interests include computational electromagnetics, high-performance lens and horn antennas, integrated focusing systems, bioelectromagnetics, and flexible electronics. Ronan Sauleau graduated in electrical engineering and radio communications from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées, Rennes, France, in 1995. He received the Agrégation degree from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, France, in 1996, and the Doctoral degree in signal processing and telecommunications and the 'Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches' degree from the University of Rennes 1, France, in 1999 and 2005, respectively.

He was an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the University of Rennes 1, between September 2000 and November 2005, and between December 2005 and October 2009, respectively, in electrical engineering. He has been appointed as a full Professor in the same University since November 2009. His current research fields are numerical modeling (mainly FDTD), millimeter-wave printed and reconfigurable (MEMS) antennas, substrate integrated waveguide antennas, lens-based focusing devices, periodic and non-periodic structures (electromagnetic bandgap materials, metamaterials, reflectarrays, and transmitarrays) and biological effects of millimeter waves. He has been involved in more than 30 research projects at the national and European levels and has co-supervised 14 post-doctoral fellows, 33 PhD students and 45 master students.

9pt; font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;'>He has filed 12 patents and is the author or co-author of more than 185 journal papers and 400 publications at international conferences and workshops. He has shared the responsibility of the research activities on antennas at IETR in 2010 and 2011. He is now co-responsible for the research Department 'Antenna and Microwave Devices' at IETR and is deputy director of IETR. Prof. Sauleau received the 2004 ISAP Conference Young Researcher Scientist Fellowship (Japan) and the first Young Researcher Prize in Brittany, France, in 2001 for his research work on gain-enhanced Fabry-Perot antennas. In September 2007, he was promoted to Junior member of the 'Institut Universitaire de France'. He was awarded the Bronze medal by CNRS in 2008.
