Foundation Engineering Analysis and Design
CRC Press (Verlag)

A companion website provides a series of Excel spreadsheet programs to cover all examples included in the book, and PowerPoint lecture slides and a solutions manual for lecturers. Using Excel, the relationships between the input parameters and the design and analysis results can be seen. Numerical values of complex equations can be calculated quickly. non-linearity and optimization can be brought in more easily to employ functioned numerical methods. And sophisticated methods can be seen in practice, such as p-y curve for laterally loaded piles and flexible retaining structures, and methods of slices for slope stability analysis.
An-Bin Huang is a Professor at National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. He worked as a practicing geotechnical engineer for many years in Chicago before entering academia. He received the 1995 Distinguished Research Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan and was the 7th James K. Mitchell Lecturer of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. Hai-Sui Yu is Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Leeds, UK, and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Prizes awarded to him include the Chandra Desai Medal of the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics in 2008, the Telford Medal of the Institution of Civil Engineers London in 2000, the Trollope Medal of the Australian Geomechanics Society in 1998, an Overseas Master awarded by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2013, and the Outstanding Contributions Medal of the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics in 2014.
