Preservation and reconstruction of the lower extremity ischemic limb presents vascular surgeons with one of their most complex and difficult challenges. The vast majority of these patients are diabetic and have advanced multisystem problems which complicates their case significantly. The surgeon is confronted with the development of a treatment programme that offers a satisfactory outcome and reduces the overall risk of the patient. Lower extremity arterial reconstruction has improved dramatically since the 1980s and the book will address and focus on these areas. A main component of the book deals with surgical technique and includes angioplasty, prosthetic bypass, reversed vein bypass, in situ vein bypass, and complex reconstruction. The latter part of the book discusses outcome and graft surveillance, including outcome and results.
