The book showcases cutting-edge concepts and methods, and presents the principle of imprecise-information processing. It also proposes a new theory and technology for imprecise-information processing that differs from fuzzy technology, thus providing a platform for related applications and laying the theoretical basis for further research.

Imprecise-information processing - a type of processing based on flexible linguistic values and quantifiable rigid linguistic values - is an important component of intelligence science and technology. This book offers an easy-to-understand overview of the basic principles and methods of imprecise-information processing, allowing readers to develop related applications or pursue further research.

Prof. Shiyou Lian is Associate Professor at Xi'an Shiyou University. He has engaged in the teaching and research of computer science and artificial intelligence for nearly 30 years.

He participated in or presided over 10 scientific projects, including National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and National 863 Hi-tech projects. He is sole author of 2 academic monographs and sole or first author of over 30 scientific papers; won a second prize of Distinguished Science and Research Achievement of Shaanxi Institutions of Higher Learning; singly developed expert system development tool ESS.
He taught about 20 courses for undergraduates and postgraduates; singly won 2 second prizes of teaching achievement of provincial level; He is sole author and editor of 6 textbooks, including the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (Third Edition), one of the National 'Eleventh Five-year' Planned Textbooks.
The authors' current research areas: Imprecise-information processing, Intelligence science and technology theories, Intelligent application system development, etc.
