Author Manoel Carlos Ramon is a member of the Intel Galileo development team; in this book he draws on his practical experience in working on the Galileo project as he shares the team’s findings, problems, fixes, workarounds, and techniques with the open source community. His areas of expertise are wide-ranging, including Linux-embedded kernel and device drivers, C/C++, Java, OpenGL, Assembler, Android NDK/SDK/ADK, and 2G/3G/4G modem integration. Manoel Carlos Ramon is a Senior Software Engineer at Intel Corporation. Before receiving his education as a software and electrical engineer, he started programming in BASIC with an 8-bit micro-computer when he was eight years old. His current expertise is in assembler, C, C++ and Java for embedded devices. He has deep experience developing device drivers, Android and MIDP/CLDC applications, virtual-machine porting and modem LTE/UTMS integration for mobile phones and tablets. He is happy to be a self-proclaimed "Linux lover forever".
