The book also discusses, in regard to the surgeon's requirements, the utilization of intraoperative transoesophageal echocardiography before and after the procedure. Illustrations demonstrate the application of artificial chordae associated with mitral valve replacement in case the natural subvalvular apparatus has to be completely removed.
