Dr. Evaggelos Spyrou holds a diploma in electrical and computer engineering with a specialty in telecommunications from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. His Ph.D thesis was in the field of semantic image and video analysis. His latest research interests include semantic multimedia analysis, indexing, and retrieval; low-level feature extraction and modeling; visual context modeling; multimedia content representation; neural networks; and intelligent systems. Widely published, he worked as researcher and developer at the Image, Video, and Multimedia Systems Laboratory of NTUA and as adjunct lecturer at the University of Western Macedonia, Kozani, Greece. He currently serves as scientific associate at the Technological Educational Institute of Central Greece, Lamia. Dr. Dimitris Iakovidis holds a B.Sc, M.Sc, and Ph.D from the University of Athens, Greece. His considerable experience stems from his participation in multiple national and European research projects, and from adjunct academic positions at the University of Athens and the University of Central Greece, Lamia. Currently he is a professor at the Technological Educational Institute of Central Greece, Lamia. An IEEE and IAPR member, he is also head of the Institute of Information Technology, vice director of the Center for Technological Research of Central Greece, and an independent expert for the European Commission. Widely published, he is a book editor, editorial board member, and reviewer of several scientific journals. Dr. Phivos Mylonas holds a diploma and Ph.D from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, as well as an M.Sc from the University of Athens, Greece. He is currently senior researcher at the Image, Video, and Multimedia Systems Laboratory of NTUA and an elected assistant professor at the Ionian University, Corfu, Greece. His research interests include content-based information retrieval, visual context representation and analysis, knowledge-assisted multimedia analysis, and issues related to multimedia personalization and user adaptation, modeling, and profiling. A widely published author, popular editor, journal reviewer, and conference organizer, he is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Hellenic Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, and W3C, as well as a former member of IEEE and ACM.
