In this publication twenty nine reactor host organisations from around the world offer their experiences in the commercial aspects of reactor operation, a growing trend in the international community. A broad range of activities, reactors and facilities are presented.
From multi-elemental analysis, radioisotope production, silicon doping, non-destructive material examination, fuel irradiation and qualification, to basic research including nuclear data measurements and human capacity building through education and training, the neutron irradiation capabilities and nuclear techniques available at research reactors can support a robust and profitable operational programme. This publication and the attached CD-ROM present the results of an IAEA technical meeting of the same title. Twenty nine reactor host organizations from around the world offered their experiences in the commercial aspects of reactor operation, a growing trend in the international community. Thus, a broad range of activities, reactors and facilities are represented, allowing other owners and operators to gain a sense of what their reactor can provide and which products and services result in significant financial returns. Additionally, the diverse profile of research reactor activities will interest industrial partners and research organizations in a wealth of fields, helping to forge mutually beneficial partnerships that can sustain research reactor utilization and contribute to their sustainability.
