Active noise control (ANC) deals with the problem of noise in a communication system by introducing a canceling "anti-noise" wave through an appropriate array of secondary sources. ANC is an effective way to weaken noise that is very difficult or expensive to control using passive means.
Active noise control (ANC) deals with the problem of noise in a communication system by introducing a canceling "anti--noise" wave through an appropriate array of secondary sources. ANC is an effective way to weaken noise that is very difficult expensive to control using passive means. ANC has widespread applications in manufacturing, industrial operations, and consumer products. This book will be a valuable resource for the many industrial companies and universities engaged in ANC research.

SEN M. KUO is Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Northern Illinois University. He has served as a consultant in the areas of adaptive signal processing applications and systems development to General Motors, Texas Instruments, and others. His research has been widely published, and in 1993, Dr. Kuo received the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society Chester Sall Award. DENNIS R. MORGAN is a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff of the Acoustics Research Department at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, New Jersey. Dr. Morgan is currently engaged in research on adaptive acoustic signal processing techniques.
