A guide to implementing the DVB-H system for the carriage of
MobileTV services, The DVB-H Handbook provides an overview
of all aspects of the specification. Placing particular emphasis on
the technical elements, it includes important information on the
signalling and service discovery. The background, functioning,
planning and optimisation of DVB-H are systematically explained for
use in network planning and optimization. Subjects such as coding,
different modes for channel delivery and protection in core and
radio system are detailed. Giving examples on the practical
interpretation of the DVB-H specifications, this book also
describes the process behind the realization of the end-to-end
system.

* Outlines the functioning, planning and optimization of
the complete DVB-H system

* Spans topics from physical network planning and link
layer specifications, to application ingredients such as EPGs and
audiovisual streaming technologies

* Uses illustrations and selected case examples reflecting
real-life practice to give greater understanding

* Functions as an overview of the topic, as well as a
tutorial for implementing the system

* A must-read for beginners as well as established experts
within the field of Mobile broadcasting

Jyrki T.J. Penttinen, Senior Solutions Architect, Nokia Siemens Networks, Spain currently plans technological solutions for the mobile network evolution, including the 2G and 3G radio networks. Previously he has worked in Technical Management for Nokia Mexico and USA. He also has extensive experience from the mobile networks operator side having worked in R&D Management in Spain and in other technical tasks in Finland. Among his other projects, he has participated in DVB-H standardization and trialling, and he is currently working on his PhD thesis which is related to the DVB-H planning and optimization. Jyrki has written telecommunications related books and he has given actively international telecoms presentations. Petri Jolma, Senior Specialist, Nokia Siemens Networks, Finland received the degree of M.S. of electrical engineering from the Technical University of Helsinki 1986, and has been employed by Nokia Networks / Nokia Siemens Networks since then. He has worked at several positions in microwave design, cellular network RF design and research, including DVB-H technology. Erkki Aaltonen, Business Development Manager, Nokia Corporation, Finland has extensive business development and sales experience in telecommunication business, establishing strategic partnerships with key mobile players globally. He is recognized as a leader in mobile TV-related business modeling and specialises in DVB-H. Erkki is also a partner and Board Director at Piccola Onda. Jani Väre, Project Manager, Nokia Corporation, Finland has a MSc. Degree in Information technology and he is currently finalizing his PhD thesis. He has worked in Nokia since 2001, participating closely in the activities related to MobileTV and DVB-H. Throughout his Nokia career he has contributed to the generation of new technologies within the field of Telecommunications and especially related to the MobileTV. The development of IPDC over DVB-H and DVB-T2 standards have been his latest major projects. Currently he is working closely in the development of the Next Generation Handheld (NGH) standard, which is the latest evolution of MobileTV within the DVB. He holds over 40 patents and patent applications. He is also named in the Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering and in the Marquis Who's Who in the World.
