Computer Image Processing in Traffic Engineering

Describes techniques through which television images of automobile traffic can be analyzed by computers to provide solutions to problems of traffic management or road design. It outlines the current experience of the use of these techniques along with results of the author's own research. Finally, the potential impact of these methods on traffic engineering is discussed.
