Clinician's Thesaurus, Electronic Edition is a computer program that puts the entire language of the mental health professions at your fingertips and serves as a personalized text library. This comprehensive program works in conjunction with your own word processor, contains over 20,000 standard words and phrases, and is fully integrated with DSM-IV. Available in Windows Version 4.2 and Macintosh Version 4.0, Clinician's Thesaurus, Electronic Edition takes the struggle out of report writing; helps to organize your clinical thinking; simplifiesyour paperwork; and gives you the resources to write better reports. Based on the best-selling book Clinician's Thesaurus, the program is arranged in the familiar sequence of a standard clinical report. For example, Background and History, Emotional/Affective Symptoms, and Components of Mental Status are main categories. Click your mouse on "Emotional/Affective Symptoms," and sections devoted to such topics as Anxiety/Fear, Anger, and Depression appear. Click on "Depression" to see subsections such as Dysfunctional Cognitions, Behavioral Facets, and Mental Dullness. One more click, and the screen displays words and phrases that help you hone in on a client's precise description ready to copy and paste into your report. And, just as you can copy and paste out of theprogram into your reports, you can copy and paste into it, creating your own text library.

Edward L. Zuckerman, PhD, clinical psychologist, has been in independent practice for more than 15 years in medical and office settings. He serves as a consultant to the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and to the Social Security Disability Determination Division, and has taught at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
