Clinical cytology has been established as a routine diagnostic tool in the pathology laboratory and the techniques developed allow the examination of cells from almost any site in the body. The application of cytological techniques has proved successful not only in the early diagnosis of malignant conditions, but also in the diagnosis and monitoring of many other pathological conditions. This study has been written primarily for those preparing for the Special Examination of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences or its overseas equivalent, but the text can also be used as a bench reference work for both technicians and clinicians in cytology and pathology departments.
