A scholarly account of the Arab people, their lives and customs, first published in 1900. An interesting view presented by an evangelical American missionary.
The Rev. Samuel M. Zwemmer stood at the forefront of those evangelical missionaries sent out by the Reformed Church of America to 'crusade' in the Islamic countries of North Africa and Arabia. The author of an earlier work, Islam - A Challenge to Faith, his views are typical of the uncompromising attitudes held by evangelising Victoria clergy, who saw a divine mission as a backbone to their work abroad. However, this present work, reproduced in facsimile from the first edition of 1900, contains a scholarly account of the Arab people, their lives and customs, and an interesting study of their country. Enhanced by over fifty photographs, maps and diagrams, the book provides a useful study of Arabia at the end of the nineteenth century.
