Work experience forms an important part of the National Curriculum in secondary schools. This video has been developed to: reflect the wealth of learning that can arise from sending students out of school to work in local industry; give students a broader view of the world of work and the disciplines involved; and act as a classroom resource and a stimulus for group discussion. By covering a range of work experience schemes, the video can be used as resource which aids students to: identify job-seeking skills; analyze job-associated activities; realize how to demonstrate a sense of responsibility in matters such as time-keeping and presentation; and identify personal aptitudes, likes and dislikes to assist in the selection of career opportunities.
