The study of criminal victimisation has developed to the stage where by victimology is now regarded as a central component to the study of crime and criminology. Sandra Walklate is Professor of Criminology, and Eleanor Rathbone Chair of Sociology, at the University of Liverpool. Recent publications include Imagining the Victim of Crime (McGraw-Hill/Open University Press, 2007), and Beyond the Rish Society: Critical Reflections on Risk and Human Security (McGraw-Hill/Open University Press, 2006).
