Terrorism is first and foremost viewed as a matter of security policy; however | its emergence | perception | effects | prevention and mitigation actually involve a multitude of societal sectors as well as academic fields. This also means that numerous academics | practitioners and decision-makers are in a position to contribute to analysing and countering terrorism.

This handbook serves as the first reference work on terrorism studies | particularly in Europe | capturing the complexity of this subject in its entirety.
