When he heard leaders in the congregation urging members to give more, it occurred to him thatothers must be struggling to give their share to the church. He heard comments from the pulpit like: Don t you want God to bless you? You ll be cursed if you don t tithe. Will a man rob God?These comments gave him pause, and he felt sorry for those who were struggling. He asked himselfwhether or not they wanted to be blessed. Seeking clarity, he went to the Lord Jesus in prayer and asked Him, Lord, why are your people having somuch trouble tithing? Right away, the Lord responded to the author in an audible voice: My people love to be in bondage tothe law. In this book, the author shares what the Lord meant by those words, what the Bible tells us about tithing,why Melchizedek is not God s priest, and why tithing was never enforceable in the New Testament church.
