This book adopts the methods of field investigation and case study, systematically summarizes the development course of Nanjiang County in Sichuan Province since China's reform and opening-up, and comprehensively sorts out its main experiences of promoting green development and rural governance. These experiences not only have great enlightening and demonstration significance to the 80 counties that belong to the Qinba mountain area, but also have important reference value to promote rural revitalization and realize effective governance in the vast mountainous areas and counties throughout the country. Zhou Shaolai, Ph.D. in politics, Professor, Director of Political Theory Research Office, Institute of Political Science, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Chief Researcher of innovation project 'Political Development and State Governance' in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Main research directions: political development in contemporary China, democratic governance, and the theory of democracy and democratization. He has published more than 120 academic papers and participated in writing 10 monographs: Humanity, Politics and Institutions - Research on Political Logic and Its Problems (China Social Sciences Press, 2004 edition), Contemporary Chinese Political Parties, State and Society (World Knowledge Press, 2010 edition), and Historical Logic of Democracy Generation in East Asia (China Social Sciences Press, 2013 edition), The Theoretical Construction of Democratic Society(China Social Sciences Press, 2017 edition), Rural Governance: Structural Change and Problem Response (China Social Sciences Press, 2018 edition).

Zhang Jun, Ph.D. in politics, Associate Professor at the Institute of Political Science, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His main research areas are democratic theory and political party research. His major publication is The Politics of Selection by Western Political Parties (2019). In recent years, he has published more than 10 academic papers independently and won many awards such as the second prize of excellent information award of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. 
 
Sun Ying, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the Institute of Political Science, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She is mainly engaged in local government and grassroots governance research. She has published more than 10 academic papers in journals. She is also a Part-time Researcher of Shanghai Academy.
