This book explores the dynamics of non-governmental organisations in Saudi Arabia, especially those that offer services for women or aim to empower women. The empowerment process in Saudi has its own unique history because it deals with cultural and traditional particulars. In order to succeed, women’s empowerment has to take unconventional, gradual, and lengthy paths which are very interesting to observe and document. This book sheds the light on the tactics and negotiation processes used by these organizations to empower women and even the negotiations that Saudi women make in their daily lives. It is also a documentation of the rapid social changes happening in Saudi Arabia in general, and regarding women within NGO settings in terms of their events, media, and other strategies in particular.
