Social Policy In A Nondemocratic Regime

This book is about non-democratic regimes and social policy. It analyzes the logic behind social policy expenditure in non-democratic regimes by looking at the Brazilian case during the period of 1964 to 1985. The book looks at the new civilian government of Brazil, installed in March 1985.

This book had its origins in my doctoral research at the London School of Economics. It developed more rapidly than expected thanks to the good will and collective efforts of various people and institutions who provided help and support-material, intellectual and moralthroughout four years at the LSE and two years at Tel Aviv University.
