Dr. Pierre Wilbert Orelus is an Associate Professor and Director of the Teaching and Foundation program in the Educational Studies and Teacher Preparation Department at Fairfield University. His research interests include multicultural and anti racist education, critical race and post colonial theories in education, critical literacies, language, and gender studies. Dr. Orelus' interdisciplinary work examines ways in which race intersects with these factors to influence not only teaching practices and student learning, but also the lives of people of color. He has authored dozens of scholarly articles on these topics, and has authored and co-authored 17 books. His most recent books include Social Justice for the Oppressed: Educators and Intellectuals Speak out (Rawman and Littefield, 2017) and Race, Power, and the Obama Legacy (Routledge, 2015).
