Robert B. Satloff is deputy director of The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a specialist on Arab and Islamic politics, and a professorial lecturer at The Johns Hopkins School for Advanced and International Studies. He is the author of From Abdullah to Hussein: Jordan in Transition (forthcoming, 1994) and Troubles on the East Bank: Challenges to the Domestic Stability of Jordan (1986).
