Educational institutions should offer a safe and secure environment for young people. Part of that should be educational equity, which this publication analyses and discusses from different angles. All 11 countries reflected on are part of the Bologna process and are dealing with the challenges of the development of a European Higher Education Area. This ongoing process is reflected in the present publication, with a specific focus on equality in education.
The authors cover aspects like inclusion and inequality, internationalizing and accessing education, but they also deal with learning foreign Languages, education for the future, assessment, feedback and student success, lifelong learning, teacher training as well as different aspects of the LGB(T+) community and gender and education.

Associate Professor, Pomeranian University, Slupsk, Poland. The main fields of research are developmental psychology, psychology of individual differences and psychology of dance. Author of several books, academic textbooks and numerous articles within upport of development of gifted and talented, methods of abilities Measurement and dance motivation.

Assistant professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Maribor. Research areas: ICT in education, preparation and distribution of multimedia learning materials and methodology of pedagogical research.

Dr. Sarah Charles is the Head of Primary ITE at the University of Derby. Prior to working at the University, Sarah worked in the primary education sector for over ten years. Drawing on both past and present experiences in the classroom, she aims to motivate teaching professionals to strive for excellence. She has a commitment to promote inclusive practice and is a member of the Equality and Diversity Committee at the University of Derby.

Dr. Vana Chiou is currently member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Department of Geography, University of the Aegean (Greece) in Educational Psychology. Her research interests include: didactics in teaching geography, differentiated instruction in mixed - ability and multicultural classrooms, utilization of educational technology in differentiated instruction, self - regulated learning, social and emotional learning.

Ondrej Duda, Master’s degree in English and Arts teaching, PhD candidate in Education, is Assistant Professor of the English Language at the Institute of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Education, Palacký University in Olomouc. He teaches sociolinguistics, Language practice, Language skills, culture and history courses as well as ELT courses. In his work, he focuses on developing professional competences of English teachers. His recent academic interest involves the theme of developing the sociolinguistic competence of future teachers of English and learners’ motivation to learn foreign Languages. He is a member of the Czech Pedagogical Society and an author of academic articles on the issue of English Language teaching methodology.

Matjaž Duh has a PhD in Art Pedagogy and is a full professor of art pedagogy and a researcher at the Faculty of Education, University of Maribor, Slovenia. Research areas: didactic of fine arts, visual arts education and art appreciation.

Nini Fang is a lecturer at The University of Edinburgh and researcher at the Centre of Creative Relational Inquiry at Edinburgh. She also works as a psychodynamic psychotherapist accredited by the BACP.

Dr. Gillian Forrester is Associate Professor of Education at Staffordshire University. Her main research interests lie in education policy, policy processes and the lived experiences of school teachers and school leaders, particularly women. Gillian is co-author of ‘Education Policy Unravelled’ published by Bloomsbury in 2016. She is Course Director for the Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) at Staffordshire University.

PhD in educational sciences; employed at the University of Silesia in Katowice. Research related to adult people with intellectual disabilities and their parents; various publications related to intellectual disabilities, early support; coordinates the work of a supported apartment for adults with intellectual disabilities and conducts therapeutic classes for children under early support.

Lotte Geunis is a researcher at the University of Maastricht with a passion for gender equality and LGBT. Previously, Lotte worked as parliamentary consultant at the United Nations Development Program and the World Bank. Lotte has an MPhil from the University of Oxford, an MA from the University of Leuven and a BA from the University of Warwick.

Berna Güryay (PhD) is an instructor at Dokuz Eylül University, English Language Teaching Department. Her research interests are second Language acquisition and creative drama. She believes in equality and tries to educate prospective teachers accordingly.

Jerneja Herzog, PhD., is assistant professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Education. Research areas: didactic of fine arts, visual arts education, professional development of teachers, mentoring and practical training, pedagogical practice, adapting work of art for blind people.

Oliver Holz, Prof. Dr. phil., M.A. (1970); MA in educational sciences and psychology; PhD in educational sciences; coordinator and organiser of European network(s); research with the emphasis on comparative educational science; employed at the KU Leuven, various publications on relevant educational Subjects.

Ruth Hudson-Gill is a Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Studies and Education at Staffordshire University where she leads the Early Childhood Studies programmes. Ruth has 20 years of experience in the Early Years sector and 10 years in Higher Education. Her research interests are well-being, childhood bereavement and attachment focusing on the early years. Ruth has co-authored the book ‘Developing as a Reflective Early Years Professional: A Thematic Approach’.

Jarecka-Zyluk, Malgorzata, PhD, MA, MA in German filology, PhD in humanities; research with an emphasis on educational science, culture, cultural and ethnic minorities, sexual minorities, employed at the Pomeranian University in Stupsk an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Pedagogy; 27 years of experience in working in Higher Education, various publications related to culture, gender.

Alena Juvová, PaedDr. in Didactics of Biology, PhD in Education; is Assistant Professor and International coordinator at the Institute of Education and Social Studies, Faculty of Education, Palacký University in Olomouc and an Executive editor of e-Pedagogium – An independent scientific journal for interdisciplinary research in pedagogy. Her sphere of scientific interest is communication and soft skills in education, environmental education, social pedagogy and pedagogical constructivism. She is a member of the Czech Pedagogical Society and a member of the Czech Educational Research Association. She has published three textbooks and selected articles on the issue of education, teaching methodology and social pedagogy.

Dr. Aikaterini Klonari is Professor in Geography Department at University of the Aegean. Her research interest is on Geographic Education and use of ICT in teaching Geography. She teaches a wide variety of courses in undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She continues to conduct research locally and internationally on teaching and learning methodology, Geography Curricula and on GIS in Education.

Salvador Montaner-Villalber, MA in IT and Linguistics from UNED. Currently writing PhD on the use of blogging in the CLIL approach at UNED. EFL teacher in Valencia, Spain. Editorial and Scientific Committee member at different online journals. Editorial Committee member at TISLID18. Collaborates with ATLAS - UNED in the research project eLITE and in OEPASS. ICT Teacher Trainer.

Grzegorz Piekarski, PhD, pedagogue, adjunct professor at the Department of General Pedagogy and Basic Education of the Institute of Pedagogy of the Pomeranian University in Sl upsk. Director of the Institute of Pedagogy of the Pomeranian University in Sl upsk. Scientific interests: gender and studies on LGBTQ+, social work theory, social-civic education, voluntary work and (re)organisation of the educational environment.

Dr. Jim Pugh is the Head of Education at Staffordshire University where he has worked since 2006 primarily as an education studies academic. Jim’s career has developed from multi-level teaching to award development, and cross faculty leadership. Jim is a Teaching Excellence Fellow of Staffordshire University and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Jim’s PhD related to access to higher education and organisational culture within universities.

Carmen Santamaría García (born 1967), European PhD in Linguistics from Complutense University, Madrid (2005). She has been combining teaching and research as part of the Philosophy and Letters Faculty, University of Alcala, for 25 years now and is tenured professor in English Language and Applied Linguistics since 1997. During these years she has been course designer and teacher of more than 30 courses at degree and postgraduate levels in more than 10 programmes in Education, Audiovisual communication, English Language and Translation Studies at University of Alcala. Her research interests and teaching fields spread along Applied Linguistics, Communication and Education (intercultural pragmatics, discourse and conversation analysis, translation and methodology of the English Language, motivation in education). These are also the areas dealt with in her publications, together with corpus linguistics and computer - mediated communication, amounting to more than forty articles published in international academic journals and books.

Fiona Shelton, Doctoral Candidate, MAEd, BEd, FHEA, MCCT. Current doctoral research focuses on memories of primary school from 1944 – 2009. Master of Arts in Education focusing on the role of the stakeholder in curriculum design. Fiona has 25 years of experience in the education sector in schools and Higher Education, Fiona is currently Dean of Students and Head of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.

Anthoula Styliani Passadelli is Geologist, PhD Candidate in Geography Department, University of the Aegean.

Justyna Ratkowska-Pasikowska, assistant professor at the Department of Educational Sciences of the University of Lodz. Specialist in the scope of Psychological Aid in the Area of Sexology. Author of numerous scientific publications. Her interests include human sexuality, femininity, initiation, as well as psychoanalysis as a tool of text interpretation.

Aleksey Sergienko, PhD, Mental Health Research Center (MHRC), Department Of Medical Psychology, Senior Researcher; MSUPE Moscow State University of Psychology & Education; MPSU, Department Of Clinical Psychology, Docent, Moscow, Russia.

Herbert Zoglowek, PhD, Professor for Sports Pedagogy at the UiT (The Arctic University of Norway), and Visiting Professor at the Pomeranian University in Slupsk, Poland. The main fields of research are professionalism of the P.E. teacher, experiential education and ball games. Author of various books and numerous articles within sport pedagogy, ball games and outdoor education. Herbert Zoglowek ist Associate Professor an der Idrettshøgskolen (Sportinstitut) der Universität Tromsø, der Arctic University of Norway, zudem lehrt er als Professor II an der Pommerschen Akademie in Slupsk, Polen. In seinen Forschungen beschäftigt er sich mit (sport-)pädagogischen Fragestellungen, im Bereich Friluftsliv vor allem mit der Erlebniswirkung und persönlichkeitsbildenden Aspekten. Zoglowek hat zahlreiche deutschsprachige Aufsätze zu Friluftsliv mit seinen norwegischen Kollegen veröffentlicht. Er ist als Bindeglied zwischen der deutschen und norwegischen Kultur hinsichtlich Friluftsliv anzusehen.
