The story of the 16th Light Dragoons from their departure from England, through the Campaign and Battle of Waterloo, and the occupation of Paris and France, to their return home in December 1815.
Making extensive use of previously unpublished material this book gives an unprecedented view of the Waterloo Campaign from the viewpoint of a single regiment. It reveals the preparations that preceded the battle, the role of the regiment in the battle, and the long months spent in France after Paris fell, until the regiment finally returned home in December 1815. An Order Book for the year, and letters and diaries of several officers, shed light on the internal life of the regiment and their - occasionally humorous - social life.

Dr David Blackmore is the author of several books, including the acclaimed Destructive and Formidable, an account of British Infantry firepower from 1642 to 1765. He is also well known for his work on the English Civil Wars. He was formerly the Registrar of the Royal Armouries, is a reenactor of over 45 years experience, a keen horseman, and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
