Law Enforcement Communication: Essential Skills for Solving Crimes, Managing Difficult People, and Improving Officer Safety helps law enforcement officers improve their communication skills with diverse populations and difficult people. The book is founded on the premise that the better an officer is at communicating with others, the safer and more effective the officer will be in all areas of law enforcement. The skills in this book apply equally to all law enforcement professionals, regardless of their rank, assignment, or responsibilities.

Officers rely on good human relations skills to deescalate dangerous confrontations, facilitate cooperation, and solve crimes. Readers will learn the skills and attitudes necessary to build trust and rapport, resolve conflict, manage emotions, gain valuable information, and deal more effectively with difficult people. Additional chapters examine persuasive communication, emotional intelligence, and the importance of leadership in creating a culture of communication excellence.

Law Enforcement Communication is an enlightening and intellectual resource well suited for courses in policing and law enforcement. It also provides a valuable resource for working law enforcement professionals, trainers, or anyone else interested in improving their personal and career success.
