A humble Leicestershire lad goes to Cambridge, meets his German wife in the Soviet Union and together they spend their working lives in several European countries. After fifty years together his wife has Parkinson's and he now cares for her round the clock.
The author narrates openly and comprehensively the kaleidoscopic story of his eventful and nomadic life as a teacher of English in numerous European countries. His jobs took him to many different places and higher education institutions. With his wife he has travelled in many countries around the world. One of their favourite regions was Latin America. Their shared interests as a couple covered a broad spectrum of the arts, including French films and the pictorial arts. He also relates how he is currently a full-time carer for his wife of over fifty years who suffers from Parkinson's disease.
