This work has been designed to help librarians, information workers and archivists in the interpretation of copyright legislation in their everyday dealings with such material as books, pamphlets, reports, maps and illustrations.

This book sets out in a question-and-answer fashion to explain the UK copyright Act and the supporting legislation. The result is a working reference tool to which librarians and archivists can turn for a ready answer. The subject index draws together material dealt with by a number of separate questions. Printed materials, manuscripts, audiovisual works, photographs, maps, databases, broadcasts and works of art are all covered. The law relating to copying, preservation, re-publishing, importation, exhibition and rental is examined in the context of both public and private collections.
