This volume provides treatment planning guidelines and an array of pre-written treatment plan components (behavioural definitions, long-term goals, short objectives, therapeutic interventions and DSM-IV diagnoses) for chemical dependency problems. It includes chemical abuse, chemical dependence and chemically-induced psychological disturbances such as delirium and mood disorders. The book also covers behavioural, personality and environmental factors which can have a negative effect on recovery, such as impulse control, personality disorders, intimate relationship problems and social stressors. Clinicians who treat clients with substance abuse problems in both in-patient and out-patient settings should find this book useful.

ROBERT R. PERKINSON, PhD, is Clinical Director of Keystone, an inpatient/outpatient chemical dependence treatment center in South Dakota, and a consultant to the nationally acclaimed Johnson Institute for Chemical Dependence Intervention in Minnesota. He is the author of Chemical Dependency Counseling: A Practical Guide. ARTHUR E. JONGSMA, Jr., PhD, is coauthor of The Complete Psychotherapy Treatment Planner, and the founder and Director of Psychological Consultants, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has more than 20 years' experience with mental health treatment and, for more than a decade, has been a consultant to adolescent residential centers and adult chemical dependence treatment agencies.
