Natalie Canavor is a business writer, author and journalist. Throughout her successive careers as a magazine editor and public relations manager, she orginated programs to help people communicate more effectively. Today she focuses on this work with practical programs for business and professional audiences, college students, and writing insructors. As an adjunct professor at NYU for six years, Natalie taught advanced writing seminars for the MS program in public relations and corporate communication, and created courses on strategic messaging for professionals and entrepreneurs. Her byline as a journalist has appeared on hundreds of features and columns in the New York Times, Newsday, Communication World and a host of business and technical publications. For six years, she wrote a column on better writing for the International Association of Business Communicators, read by 15,000 professionals worldwide. Currently she writes and edits the award-winning magazine Impact for Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, which shares faculty research. As a national magazine editor, Natalie created a series of successful start-ups including Today's Filmmaker, Videography, and Technical Photography. As an organizational communicator, Natalie built a 14-person PR department for New York State's largest educational agency and counseled agency management on communication strategy; directed print, video, and e-media; and created communications-skills training programs for school leaders. Natalie is also the author of Business Writing for Dummies, currently in its second edition, and coauthor of Workplace Genie: An Unorthodox Toolkit to Help Transform Your Work Relationships and Get the Most fom Your Career, with psychotherapist Susan Dowell. She also coauthored The Truth About the New Rules of Business Writing, a popular guide for businespeople. Natalie's work has earned dozens of national and international awards for feature articles, video scripts, websites and publications. She served two terms as president of an International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) chapter, which recognized her as Communicator of the Year, and was a founding officer of IABC's Heritage Region. Natalie is a member of the Author's Guild, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, The Association of Business Communicators, and the Plain Language Center. Kelly M. Quintanilla is the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She earned her Ph.D. in Communication from the Pennsylvania State University in 1994, joining the A&M-CC faculty that same year. She was a Professor of the Communication for 16 years, teaching courses in Business & Professional Communication, Teamwork & Leadership, Organizational Communication, Public Relations, and Public Speaking. Additionally, she served as Department Chair/Program Coordinator in Communication from 2000-2009. Over the years, Dr. Quintanilla has received awards for her teaching, service, advising, and scholarship. She has also worked as an executive coach and an organizational communication consultant for a variety of industries. Although she loves her career, her greatest love is spending time with her husband, Anthony and daughter, Logan on the sunny beaches of the South Texas.
